The federal government immediately introduced it has ordered its first detention of a superyacht in UK waters.
The £38m vessel is owned by an unnamed Russian businessman, the possession of which ministers stated is “intentionally properly hidden”.
It comes as peace talks are underway over the battle in Russia and Ukraine.
Phi, a vibrant blue superyacht, is reported to be double the scale of the opposite boats docked round it at Canary Wharf, east London.
The transport secretary described the transfer as “a transparent and stark warning to Putin and his cronies”.
Chatting with the PA information company, Grant Shapps stated: “Now the ship is being held, it received’t be going wherever.
“It was right here for refit, received’t be going wherever, and it’s simply one other indication that we’ll not stand by while Putin’s cronies are allowed to sail world wide in these sorts of yachts and folks in Ukraine are struggling.
“While you see what he’s doing to Ukraine, while you see what he’s doing to folks’s lives, it could’t be proper to have a yacht like this right here in London, in a position to simply sail away and that’s the reason we’ve impounded it, and denied it potential to go wherever proper now, and it’s one other indication of how severely we take these issues.”
