Russia is failing to attain any of its key goals at first of its invasion of Ukraine and has misplaced 450 personnel, the defence secretary says.
Ben Wallace stated the Kremlin had been unable to take management of a big airport north of Kiev, including: “In actual fact, the Ukranians have taken it again.”
“Our evaluation, as of this morning, is that Russia has not taken any of its main aims – the truth is it’s behind its hoped-for timetable,” he stated.
And he added: “Russia has misplaced vital quantities of armour and other people – Ukranians are combating and they’re combating courageous.”
The evaluation got here regardless of an expectation that Russian tanks will roll into Kiev on Friday – evoking recollections of Soviet invasions of the capitals of Hungary and Czechoslovakia within the final century.
Russia has continued to hold out missile assaults, as Volodymyr Zelensky, the Ukrainian president, pleaded with Western allies to do extra to cease Russia’s assault.
