Michael Smith held off a James Wade fightback to achieve the ultimate of the World Darts Championship for a second time.
The 2019 runner-up prevailed 6-3 after fourth seed Wade had rallied from 5-1 right down to threaten a tense end within the first semi-final at Alexandra Palace.
Smith fired 16 180s and averaged 101 as he noticed off his fellow Englishman.
“It was a tricky recreation,” Smith instructed Sky Sports activities “I knew he was going to push me.
“There was one set the place he hit 180 after 180. It was about conserving my cool then.

Smith opened strongly by taking the primary leg in 13 darts and shortly led by two units.
Wade responded by taking the third set within the deciding leg with a 121 try after which took the primary two legs of the fourth.
But Smith hit again to win the set and the subsequent two to open up a 5-1 lead. Wade claimed the subsequent two to cut back the deficit however couldn’t preserve the momentum and slipped to semi-final defeat for a fourth time in his profession.
