Financial institution accounts held by a British businessman have been frozen over allegations they comprise cash linked to Russian oligarch Oleg Deripaska.
The Nationwide Crime Company (NCA) stated it had obtained two account freezing orders in respect of 5 accounts held by Graham Bonham-Carter.
The NCA stated in a press release: “We are able to affirm that the NCA has secured two Account Freezing Orders in respect of 5 financial institution accounts held by Mr Graham Bonham-Carter.
“The orders had been obtained on the premise that there are cheap grounds to suspect that the cash within the accounts was derived from the laundering of funds of a person topic to sanctions in the US, specifically Oleg Deripaska.
“The accounts comprise funds of a price totalling roughly £110,000.
“That is an on-going investigation and we aren’t commenting additional at the moment.”
